Sharon Hanek is an accountant, community volunteer, wife, and mother who has made her home in the Buckley – Bonney Lake area for over thirteen years.  Her involvement in the schools, youth sports, and business community from Auburn to Enumclaw to Sumner has deepened her commitment to make this area a wonderful place to live and work.

Over the years Sharon has watched the average family face challenges that are characteristic of these times.  Many families have to borrow to cover daily expenses, jobs exist outside of the area where long commute times take us away from our homes, and our young adults are starting their careers with large student loans.  She has experienced the difficulties of caring for parents and toddlers at the same time and has lived through the uncertainty of downsizing and outsourcing jobs. 

She believes that she can combine her life experiences with her professional skills to work for effective solutions in Olympia as your State Representative.

She brings with her over 25 years of professional experience in:

Accounting and auditing skills
Defending taxpayers before the IRS and State taxing agencies
Operating small businesses and budget preparation
Volunteer work in community non-profits, schools, and churches

Sharon feels that the best solutions arise from those nearest to the problem.  One-size-fits-all answers from Washington D.C. or Olympia may not be the best fit for the 31st District.  She trusts that individuals can make good decisions if provided the tools and opportunities to move forward. 

She thinks that changes in Government should be for specific goals. She wants to strive towards a “S T A R” Government system that is:

Simple   to understand
Transparent  to review information
Accountable   to the taxpayer
Responsible   to the citizens

She believes that the system of Government is a two way discussion and encourages you to share your thoughts and ideas with her.
